Introductions!

topic posted Thu, November 20, 2003 - 6:48 PM by  Gilana
We are too inactive! We must remedy that!

I think everyone should introduce themselves. Put your name, age, and location so that we can all become better aquainted. And put anything else that would help us know you!!

I'll start:

I'm Gilana, I'm 20 years old, I live in Amherst, Massachusetts. I graduated from Simon's Rock College this past May, I studied European Studies and Literary Studies. I like power tools and murder mysteries. I'm very into books. I like musicals. I'm probably a dork.

Hey Ruby, hey everyone else. Julie here! And I have a question for everyone...

I'm going to Israel to study with other artists/musicians/actors, etc...on my own. I'll be in the Negev (Arad). How difficult is it to get around from there? Any good sites to see in Israel?

Also, anyone know some good lay overs on El Al, or ways to lay over for a few days CHEAPLY and see another country? Any suggestions?

      Thanks.
      J.

        take care,

Hello! I"m 58 and already thinking of retiring in a very few years. I work for the State Gov and I converted to Judaism 20 years ago. My daughter went to Jewish Day School but now is an atheist.
I attend services at Chochmat HaLev in Berkeley (Jewish Renewal), and I regularly attend Israeli folk dance classes in the Bay Area.
I've been divorced for over 20 years, and I'm hoping to meet some intelligent, thoughtful, gentle, and happy woman who likes dancing.

I'm Harry, 55 years old, I live in the middle of nowhere in Illinois.
I like to cook, I have terrific hands, play a great game of pool, and feel that I am here to eat pizza and kiss. I like looking into beautiful eyes and thinking how soft your skin is. I own a fabulous family steak house restaurant, soon to be also making pizza, in the middle of nowhere and that keeps me busy pretty much 24/7. I design book and magazine covers and manage a few websites. One day I want to become a chiropractor, have dinner on the moon and win the nobel peace prize.

      achim! shalom

im ari moshe- 20 years old
i just got back from israel about 2 weeks ago. i spent my year doing 4 months of organic agraculture in a kibbutz up north and 3 months herding goats in the dessert.
right now i am living with my parents in nj. last year i was in yeshiva university in nyc... but im not going back.
i've learned a lot about myself through my experiences this past year. i've become more detached from organized dogmatic religion and more attached to anything spiritual.
i've found that recently i've been feeling a very strong connection to my people and to my culture w/out a strong connection to my religion. i like that, this is the first time in my life that i dont feel at conflict with myself in terms of theology.
i plan on learning massage therapy and then moving on to other holistic healings.
nice to meet all of you! im so happy to have found this tribe.

I own (with two other partners) an Improv Comedy Theater (like Second City Chicago) in this city and I'm the resident filmmaker and webmaster of the group. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and arrived in Columbus to attend school; The Ohio State University. I studied Biochemistry but took up filmmaking and improv during my free time. Pretty much stayed with it after graduation. Ok. I think that should give you at least an intuitive idea of who I am. :) Yeah!

Oh this is so cute - we're doing introductions.

I am dB. I live in Seattle, WA. I am twenty seven. I strive to be a computer geek with all the appropriate attributes of the Net. I carry my laptop to the beach and hit on Sandra Bullock who finds geeks sexy.

For self promotion I have a website, www.dblock.org. For a more personal introduction I can be found this year @ the Seattle art walk in the Prudential or at Burning Man with the Space Virgins.

Hi! I'm so glad we're doing this!

My name is Rebecka, I live in Southern Oregon right on the border of California. I'm 25 and a wine consultant. I was born in Chicago and some how ended up out here on the west coast for college and just never left, I love it here. I'm single and still looking and if my mother had her way I'd be married with kids by now, but isn't that what any good Jewish mother wants for her daughter!

I was raised in an interesting family, you see my father is a Presbyterian minister and my mother and her whole side is Jewish. Hence the spelling of my name, not Rebecca (christian), not Rebekah (jewish) but a mix between the two which is how you end up at me!

That's probably enough for now but if you want to know more drop me a line!
It's nice to meet all of you!

Hi Rebecka! We have something in common. My dad was a Methodist minister and my mom a Prebyterian. I grew up in the church but left. Later I converted to liberal Judaism. I attend Chochmat HaLev in Berkeley, a Jewish Renewal synagogue. Often we dance in the aisles and clap and sing.
I love to travel and because of my age, want to retire soon.
One daughter who is expecting in December. I'll be a grandpa soon.
        Shalom

    Hi Tribe!

I'm Barbara, 45 at this writing, from Portland OR but I've lived in Chicago the past nearly-nine years. In between I lived in Honolulu, Boston (college), Minneapolis (grad school), a spell on Guam, and six months backpacking around the globe. Later this summer I'm planning to move back at long last to Portland to be near my family and to just enjoy my wonderful hometown again!

My fave activities: reading & writing, dancing, hosting shabbat meals, walking (I'm an avid walker), cooking/eating spicy foods, crafting in general, traveling, learning & teaching.
